The top British band will play at the home of the famous Biomes on September 18, 2021.
IDLES had been due to play the Sessions this summer but that and other Eden Sessions set for June and July 2021 could not take place due to the uncertainties around the impacts of the pandemic and restrictions on outdoor audiences.
Rita Broe, Managing Director of Eden Sessions Ltd, said today: “We’re thrilled to announce that IDLES – one of the UK’s most exciting acts right now – are confirmed to play at the Eden Sessions in September.
“Their celebration of community and diversity reflects Eden’s own ethos and makes them a perfect fit for what promises to be a brilliantly exciting Session.”
Tickets for the IDLES concert cost £40 plus £4 booking fee and are now on sale on www.edensessions.com.
Eden is contacting all existing ticket purchasers with details. Original tickets remain valid for IDLES and any other show that is rescheduled.
The band are riding high after the release of their hugely successful third studio record, Ultra Mono, which went straight to number one on the UK Albums Chart in October last year.
Formed in Bristol in 2009, the band comprises vocalist Joe Talbot, Adam Devonshire on bass, guitarists Mark Bowen and Lee Kiernan, and Jon Beavis on drums.
Their first album Brutalism, released in 2017, made a big impact and led to invites to support the likes of Foo Fighters on tour and to signing with the Brooklyn and London independent Partisan Records.
Their second album Joy As An Act Of Resistance debuted at number five in the UK, breaking Rough Trade’s all-time record for most pre-orders and sales in a day. It was crowned 6 Music’s number one album of the year for 2018.
IDLES won the coveted Ivor Novello award for Best Album, were nominated for the Mercury Prize, performed a raucous Jools Holland debut and saw three extensive tours sell out worldwide.
The band’s latest, Ultra Mono, is sonically constructed to capture the feeling of a hip-hop record, with the songs doubling down on the vitriolic sneer and blunt social commentary of their past work.
Joining IDLES at the Sessions are Black Honey, a four-piece indie rock band formed in Brighton. They released their blockbuster second album Written & Directed in March 2021 to great acclaim.
Also joining IDLES are Spectres – a noise rock band from Bristol who over three albums and countless other releases have cemented their reputation as one of the UK’s most visceral and uncompromising acts.
Eden has previously announced Ben Howard (appearing on September 11), McFly (September 12) and Snow Patrol (September 16) for the series of Sessions later this year (2021).
Eden has also announced two rescheduled shows for next year’s Eden Sessions.
My Chemical Romance will take the stage in front of the Biomes on May 17, 2022, and Lionel Richie is confirmed for June 14, 2022.
In September 2019 The Eden Project and global live events company AEG Presents announced a new partnership, Eden Sessions Ltd, to run the Eden Sessions.
