The conversation about the Morecambe project will take place over Zoom at 12.30pm and will feature speakers including:

• David Harland, Chief Executive of Eden Project International
• Sarah Wroe, Head of Stakeholder Relations at Lancaster University
• Councillor Dr Erica Lewis, Leader of Lancaster City Council
• Andrew Barrow, Construction and Infrastructure Programme Manager at Lancashire County Council

Each of the guests will give an update on the project before opening the floor to questions. Questions can be asked in person during the video call or be submitted ahead of time by e-mailing edenprojectnorth@edenproject.com.

David Harland said: “Lockdown has meant that we haven’t been able to spend as much time in Morecambe as we did before the pandemic, so we’re looking forward to getting together with the Morecambe community again and sharing the latest news on Eden Project North.

“To our great disappointment, we haven’t been able to visit Morecambe in a while, but that doesn’t mean we have stopped! If anything, we have been more busy in making the project a reality and we’re really excited about the progress we’ve made over the last few months.”

Eden Project North would be a major new exemplar attraction in Morecambe that seeks to reimagine the seaside resort for the 21st century. Eden has recently submitted a business case to the Government, asking for £70m of funding.

The report presents Eden Project North as a key driver of the UK’s post-Covid recovery and shows it is a “shovel-ready” project which would deliver significant economic, environmental and social benefits for Lancashire and the wider North West region, as well as contributing to the wider levelling-up agenda and the Government’s 25-year Environment Plan.
