The heart-warming film about Ozi, an orphan orangutan who uses her influencer skills to save her forest home from deforestation, is released by Signature Entertainment into UK cinemas on August 16, with special early screenings on August 10 and 11.
Produced by DiCaprio and Mike Medavoy (Black Swan), the film boasts a star-studded voice cast, including Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, Marriage Story), Amandla Stenberg (The Acolyte), the late Donald Sutherland (The Hunger Games), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Dean-Charles Chapman (1917, Game of Thrones), Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond), and RuPaul (RuPaul’s Drag Race).
Visitors to the Eden Project can walk through and take pictures in scenes inspired by Ozi’s rainforest home. Family games, origami and activity sheets provide a crafty play zone for visitors of all ages to be among the first to be immersed in the film and the importance of rainforest conservation.
Eden Live Producer, Kate Francis, said: “We’re really excited to welcome Ozi the orangutan to the home of one of the world’s largest undercover rainforests to be part of our summer celebrating Wild Life.
“We’re taking visitors on a deep dive into the natural world and our place within it, with adventure trails, shadow puppet shows, tantalising challenges and eye-opening exhibitions.”
The summer programme kicked off with the unveiling of the Natural History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, running until September 1, featuring a collection of 100 extraordinary images on display throughout the lush Outdoor Gardens.
A Go Wild family trail winds its way around six trail points to discover fascinating animals, challenges and stamps to collect, while Under 5’s will enjoy getting stuck into mud kitchens and nature play, encouraging hands-on exploration and imagination.
Elsewhere at the Eden Project, an enchanting shadow puppet show takes place in a custom-built theatre. Visitors can test their Wild Skills, such as mimicking a dolphin’s call, comparing their arm length to an orangutan’s or comparing if their eyes are as big as a colossal squid’s.
Wild Guardians is a fascinating look at life on Earth, an insight into Eden’s environmental projects at home and around the world and the easy ways we can have a positive impact on our wildlife.
With more than 20 acres of lush gardens, picnic spots, play areas and a kaleidoscope of summer blooms, the Outdoor Gardens are made for exploring this time of year. On hot summer days, Nature’s Playground – a vast outdoor adventure play area, new to the Eden Project last year – offers a welcome place for little ones to splash around in water play and grown-ups to cool off with a refreshment.
