Eden announced recently that the Eden Sessions series planned for this year (2020) would not take place due to the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic but would be rescheduled for next year.
My Chemical Romance had been due to play in front of the Eden Biomes on June 16, 2020.
Today Eden confirmed that the show has been rescheduled and will now take place on June 15, 2021.
Eden is contacting all existing ticket purchasers with details. Original tickets remain valid for My Chemical Romance and any other show that is rescheduled.
David Harland, director of Eden Sessions Ltd, said today: “When we first announced My Chemical Romance would play the Sessions we saw this as a massive coup and the response from fans has been phenomenal.
“Now we’re delighted to be able to confirm they will be with us next year, almost exactly a year on from the day we would have welcomed them.”
My Chemical Romance were drawn to play at the home of the world-renowned environmental and educational charity due to Eden’s green credentials and ground-breaking programmes aimed at inspiring and educating people about humanity’s reliance on the natural world.
Formed in Newark, New Jersey, My Chemical Romance made their debut in 2002 with the independently released album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love.
The band signed to Reprise Records the following year and made their major label debut with 2004's Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. The album contained the Platinum hit I'm Not Okay (I Promise), the Gold-certified Helena, and The Ghost of You.
Rolling Stone hailed the three-times Platinum The Black Parade as one of the top albums of 2006. Lead single Welcome to the Black Parade topped both Billboard's Alternative Songs tally and the UK Official Singles chart.
The band toured extensively behind the album - appearing as characters from The Black Parade - and released the live album The Black Parade is Dead! in 2008.
Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys was released in 2010 and topped Billboard's Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. It was followed by a series of singles later released as Conventional Weapons in 2013.
My Chemical Romance are the second band rescheduled for next year’s Eden Sessions.
Eden recently announced that Irish alt-pop trio The Script, who were also due to perform this summer, will now appear at Eden on July 14, 2021.
It has also been announced that Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds were unable to confirm Eden Sessions in the summer of 2021 so far ahead in time so their concert is now cancelled.
Last year’s epic Eden Sessions line-up saw Stereophonics, Nile Rodgers & Chic, Liam Gallagher, The Chemical Brothers and Kylie Minogue (two nights) play the Eden stage.
Also, to mark the 100th Session, Nile Rodgers and Doves led a galaxy of stars at a special anniversary show.
In September (2019) The Eden Project and global live events company AEG Presents announced a new partnership, Eden Sessions Ltd, to run the Eden Sessions.
