The Inside Out Project is a platform that gives everyone the opportunity to make a statement by displaying large-scale black and white portraits of members from their community in public spaces.

Through a Group Action, communities around the world stand up for what they believe in and spark global change locally.

The Group Action at Eden has been organised by Group Leaders Alex Bell and Sam Kendall.

The portraits collected showcase individuals making a difference in the field of education for sustainable development.

Those celebrated include national and international policy makers, pioneering activists, educators and community leaders.

The Group Action also highlights children and young people making a real difference at a grassroots level in their own communities in the UK and around the world.

Sanne Verburg-Aldrich, a teacher from West Lodge Primary School in Harrow in Greater London, who participated in this Group Action said: “I am excited that our work teaching children about sustainability and empowering them to take action at West Lodge Primary School is part of a global movement of education for sustainable change.

“We approach sustainability through the curriculum, improving the school building and grounds and actively involving the wider school community.”

Vedhant Anand, a Year 9 pupil from Reading School in Berkshire who is also included said: “We should use what we have and our current knowledge of our world to gradually fix the world’s problems.

“Each of us has the responsibility to make a change before it is too late to regret inaction.”

Speaking at the unveiling of the Group Action, Eden Co-Founder Sir Tim Smit said: “We are delighted to spotlight just a few of the wonderful people doing fantastic work in Education for Sustainable Development. These remarkable individuals shine a bright beacon of hope that together we can still change the future of this planet for the better.”

Alex Bell and Sam Kendall said: “It’s been a real privilege to organise this Group Action to honour people making a real difference in education for sustainable development.

“Communities and the world at large don’t just need great school leaders, great policy makers and an engaged next generation - they need true changemakers prepared to make the difference in what needs to be done.”
