The mass participation cycle ride is back in its regular May slot having greeted nearly 800 riders from across the country last September (2021) following a two-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The non-competitive event, which was first held in 2015, offers a choice of three spectacular rides that take in the most dramatic and scenic parts of the south coast of Cornwall.
The three route options consist of a shorter yet challenging ride of 36 miles, a middle distance of 60 miles, and a longer ride of 100 miles for the more experienced sportive rider.
All riders pass through picturesque villages and along beautiful coastlines whichever route they choose, going through spots such as Carlyon Bay, Charlestown, Pentewan, Mevagissey and Caerhays.
All routes conclude at the Eden Project, where riders can enjoy the sight of the world-famous Biomes as they approach the finish line in the Eden Arena.
Every registered rider will be provided with a pre-cycle breakfast with muesli, porridge and bananas available to fuel the ride ahead.
They will also receive a well-earned pasty following the event. Along the route, delicious food and refreshments will be available at stations based in iconic locations including the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
Pre-registered riders are also guaranteed to receive a bespoke medal and a timing chip.
Neil Stark, Eden’s Operations Director, said: “The Eden Classic is Cornwall’s biggest home-grown cycling event and is a real highlight of the Eden calendar so we are thrilled to see it return to its regular May slot this year.
“The atmosphere on the day is always brilliant and it’s great to see cyclists of different abilities coming together to enjoy a fantastic day together. If you haven’t taken part before, come and have a go.”
