Tom Connolly joined the Eden Project as an apprentice, right at the heart of our international operations. Learn more about him.

"I’ve always been drawn to the apprenticeship route, as opposed to studying at university, so when this opportunity at Eden came up, I knew I had to go for it. What interested me was not only getting experience of business operations, but joining an organisation that’s making the world a better place.

My role as International Administrator means I get to work on the fantastic new Edens that we’re developing across the UK and around the world. Alongside providing support on the financial processing side of things, I’m responsible for scheduling our community engagement events for Eden Project North, which invites local citizens to engage in our vision to re-imagine Morecambe as a seaside resort for the 21st century.

I’m excited that through these projects – from China to Australia – we are helping to raise awareness of the threats our planet is facing, as well as the changes that we can all make, to bring about a resounding difference.

For me, what makes working at Eden so enjoyable is that every working day is different, and that it’s a very caring and nurturing working environment, where everyone looks out for each other. My most memorable moment so far is being invited to represent the organisation at the Best Companies of Year 2019 event in London, after winning Eden’s ‘Unsung Hero of the Year’ award.

My ambitions for the future are to build on my career here at the Eden Project, following my apprenticeship, and to eventually travel to the new Eden Projects once they’ve become a reality!"
