A young family looking out over the Eden biomes and gardens

Tips for visiting in all weathers

With our vast indoor Biomes and huge Outdoor Gardens, Eden is a great place to visit whatever the weather.

Tips for sunny days

  • Explore our gloriously unusual gardens: Walk paths with surprises round every corner across 30 acres of Outdoor Gardens.  Discover Global Gardens, Wild Cornwall and the shady mystery of the Myth & Folklore garden.
  • Cool down with a sweet treat: Our ice cream and sorbets are inspired by the fruits of the rainforest, and are made with panela (unrefined whole sugar cane). Our ice cream parlours are on the bridge between the Biomes and out in the garden.
  • Marvel at our beautifully strange outdoor sculptures: Among the plants, meet the likes of Eve and our Giant Bee.
  • Eat al fresco: There are lots of places to enjoy our takeaway food or your own picnic outdoors in the sun, including the grassy Arena at the centre of the gardens, and the adjacent Orchard. Did you know that the Eden Coffee House in our Visitor Centre now has an outdoor terrace with spectacular views of the Biomes?
  • Get spritzed: Cool off by crossing the Cloud Bridge in our Rainforest Biome.  Water vapour is triggered every minute to mimic the inside of a cloud.  It’s fully accessible and you’ll learn how rainforests reflect sunlight and help cool the planet!
  • Head to The Core: Visit Studio Swine's ∞ Blue sculpture in The Core, a cool and usually quiet place to recharge.
  • Prepare for the heat: Remember to slap on some suncream as there is a risk of sunburn even inside the Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes. On hot days, it's also a good idea to hang up your coat in the cloakroom in our Link building before going into the Rainforest Biome. And bring a water bottle with you, which you can fill with free Cornish tap water from one of our refill stations around the site.

“ Very enjoyable, we had good weather. But it would still have been good in the rain. You seem to have all the bases covered. ”

Tips for rainy days

  • Prepare for an adventure through different climates: a visit to the Eden Project will take you through all sorts of environments, from wild Cornish landscapes outdoors to a hot and humid Rainforest and a balmy Mediterranean Biome. As there is much to explore outdoors, we recommend a coat or umbrella and comfortable clothes to fully enjoy your visit.
  • Eat at quieter times: The delicious food available on site is really popular, especially on rainy days, so – if you can – visit our cafés before or after lunchtime.
  • Shelter in all weathers: If the weather is mixed, you can still enjoy our Outdoor Gardens, as there are several places where you can shelter from showers.
  • Lots to enjoy indoors: our Biomes and the Core building are all undercover. Don’t miss some of our indoor highlights that tend to be quieter than the Biomes, such as the giant breathing Infinity Blue sculpture and the Seed sculpture in the Core.
